Internet is one among IT revolutions, Which is most influential media of information in today's world. Can we imagine life with out Google and E-mail?? E -commerce is going to be the next Gen essential tool. There are great number of applications which are based on WEB only. There are many advantages of Internet in this Gen IT. In spite of all these advantages, i have some concerns over it. We are shifting our gears towards 'i' - Knowledge (Internet knowledge) . Anybody can speak about anything with great level of information available through Internet. Many times we go through websites which are contradictory in statements about the same topic ,from one to another. Are we really giving a thought behind this source of information?? or we just dumping the same lines to our Memory?? Who is doing the cross check behind this information whether it is correct or not??
A website presents some information with the reference of the other, what is reference to reference?? Sometimes we just ignore references to the info which we read.
We are becoming more and more dependent on the Internet source. Possible threat from this is, we can be easily influenced through websites. Some times i feel our knowledge is just getting limited to browsing, even to an extent to explore the taste of the coffee. We like to explore different web pages with comments rather than test driving a car, to buy a car. For any information or any kind of activity we just dependent on Internet. E-mails, E-Invitations, Chat, social activities, matrimonial,etc..Many more to convert in to I-dependent, there is no doubt about it.
Are we really going away from the reality with our own inventions and revolutions?? I feel there should be some Mark, which should limit this dependency,before it becomes difficult to control. We need to be more practical in terms of judging the information. I feel Internet is becoming more and more Marketing media compare to information sharing. Real Knowledge comes by Exploring the truth, not just dumping the information to our Memory, by which our knowledge is just I-knowledge which is far away from reality!

Yeh, wikipedia is one such example. It no doubt has information of any topic you can search for but you never know how much is correct (although I can say it gave me correct info for the things I searched for). In fact, a guy tested this by planting some fabricated info on a topic in wikipedia and all the newspapers around the world published that as a fact. Internet is an ocean now, we really need to be careful when into it, else we lose the path to the shores.
